What became of his authority
Imagine shoes being hurled at Bill Clinton or Ronald Reagan. The office of the American President is the most powerful in the world. So what became of the authority? W. Bush has poked his nose in every other affair out there and ended up rubbishing the mystic of his office. Whether he deserves it is another issue.

What fascinated me in the whole episode were President Bush dodging skills. His military training obviously came in handy. The guy deserves an award for that.
What will happen to the Iraqi journalist who threw shoes at George Bush? Agreed the United States foreign policy under George Bush has turned it against the world. But throwing shoes at a human being no matter the circumstance is inhuman. It is treatment meant for dogs. The journalist must spend ages in jail.
For the journalist spending time in jail, I think it is public opinion versus the law. Legal issues ought not to be based on public opinion but rather on the evidences brought before the court. The protests we saw on TV suggest that, left to the Iraqi people, the journalist would have spent the night in his wife’s care.
Without 9/11, George Bush would have been a better world leader. The desire for revenge against the terrorists blinded his creative reasoning. In his pursuit of the terrorist, he ended polarizing the people of the world. It is either you are for Bush or for the terrorists. I think that was his undoing. But I believe America would reinvent itself.
Bush farewell tour ended with him being given an appropriate farewell shoe kiss. His farewell visit made the Iraqi journalist a local hero. What would have been his reaction if he had got a swollen eye from the flying shoes?
The world needs America to get it right under Obama. America has always stood for a free world. Without America’s intervention in WW 2, we would have been living in Hitler’s world. Think about that
America’s fall into disrepute has been a function of a failure in judgment by its leadership. From Lebanon, Somalia, Bosnia, Iraq down to Afghanistan, judgment has been critical. Not surprising, judgmental ability was an issue in the American elections. For a certainty, President Bush has it in insufficient quantity. Whether president-elect Obama has it only time, will tell.
Who needs Bush’s farewell tour? Definitely not the thousands his wars have rendered fatherless, wifeless, homeless, wealth-less and hopeless. President Bush’s regime marks the beginning of the end of America’s materialist civilization. Welcome to the entrenchment of the Chinese civilization
