Probable outcome of the current global crisis
A thousand Barack Obama can’t save the downward trend. At best he can only delay it. A more likely outcome of the current global crisis over the coming years is that first, the era of U.S. as the world’s only super power may have ended and we are likely to have a complete realignment of forces, which may put Communist Capitalism (China and Russia) on one side and then Democratic Socialism (U.S., Europe, Japan, Australia and Canada) on the other, while as usual India, Africa and South America will remain in the middle to be wooed and fought for.

Though Japan posed a threat in the 1980s and Soviet Union in the early years of the cold war, China’s threat looks more viable. America need not cry over its decline. Power is ephemeral. It has been argued that rising powers do not always complete their climb and economic strength does not always translate into political power. However China sheer size makes it a plausible challenger. May we live long to witness the day of “change”
Barack Obama would be coming to office with a lot of political capital. His actions and inactions especially on the Middle East would define his presidency. Let’s hope he get it right. The world needs peace. Though W. Bush’s roadmap to peace never got off the ground, he tried his best. I hope Obama moves things to the next level. Settling the two nation-one land crisis between Israel and Palestine is key to restoring America’s world leadership credentials.
Restore peace all over the world and America’s military complexes run out of business. What we get to hear from the media is the cost of the Iraqi invasion. Has anyone bothered to tell us the value of the oil America has stolen from Iraq’s oil wells? President Bush and his neo-cons have made dividends that quadruple America’s investments. Unfortunately, such returns never get to the treasury.
If we are expecting Obama to perform the eighth wonder of the world, we are been unfair. That Barack Obama has the vision is not in doubt. That Americans have brought into his vision is also apparent. I think this place him in a vantage position to actualize the “change” his campaign was hinged on. But we have to be realistic about expectations.
America like every other past superpowers is suffering from the effect of over-stretching of its militry capabilities. Thanks to W. Bush.
The world needs a leader and America under the Obama Presidency will provide the leadership.
Go and read this book: "Can we avoid a Third World War around Year 2010". You will see analitically, that the days of United States as the World's superpower are numbered. Never underestimate the power South Africa and Ghana may wedge after the War. But I must confess, The only favourites are Russia, India, Iran, Isreal, China, and North Korea. Japan is handiccaped.
